Slit Lamp Simulator
A 3D slit lamp you can actually drive: the joystick base, the slit beam width, height and angle, magnification, and the filters — cobalt blue, red-free, diffuser, neutral density. It exists because the slit lamp is the one instrument in ophthalmology that cannot be learned from a textbook, and beam time on a real one is scarce.
Illumination techniques covered
- Diffuse illumination — the orienting, whole-anterior-segment view
- Direct focal illumination, broad and with a narrow optic section for depth
- Specular reflection — the technique that shows the corneal endothelial mosaic
- Sclerotic scatter — total internal reflection to light up corneal opacities
- Retroillumination from the iris and from the fundus red reflex
- Cobalt blue with fluorescein for epithelial defects and tear film break-up time
A free OcuLearning account is needed to open the simulator.
